What are your favorite moments from your football life?

In high school it was when I scored 2 touchdowns against our rivals. One as a TE and another as a fumble recovery. In college, it had to have been this past season when we played San Diego State. They were a top 25 team and even though we lost to them, we played them well the first half. I think that allowed us to see that the difference between FBS and FCS isn’t as big as people think. I also had 7 tackles and 3 TFLs that game.

If you could hang out with any football player past or present for a day who and why?

I would have to say Tom Brady because of his winning mindset, particularly how he goes about developing and honing that mindset.

Which one of your family members inspires you the most and why?

That would be my deceased grandfather. He came from the backwoods of North Carolina -outer banks. Grew up with 12 brothers and sisters and choose that his way to make it out was in the military. Him and his twin brother both became marines. My grandfather was a Master Sergeant, a business man, and a philanthropist. He also was a black belt in Karate and Akido. Him being able to accomplish all these things while growing up in a poverty stricken area let’s me know that the sky is the limit and that I can do anything I put my mind to.

What type of energy do you bring onto the football field?

I would say silent assassination. I don’t talk shit to my opponents. If anything I make it seem as if I’m not as deadly as I could be by being goofy between the whistles and extra friendly.

What made you decide you wanted to be a football player?

Honestly I started playing football because of academics. I began playing football my freshman year thinking it would look good on my college resume. I just ended up being able to accept the coaching and become good enough to get a division 1 scholarship.

What are your favorite things about playing football for Towson?

Some of my favorite things about playing for Towson would include being apart of a great program which values relationships and building players off of that. Not once at Towson did I feel as though my coaches didn’t care about me. They push me and motivate to continue to excel at my best capability and to even go beyond that. Towson also is a great school academically, with a great academic team that has helped me every step of the way, even through a degree major change.

What should we know about Jesus Gibbs the person?

I’m a God-fearing young man who likes to do adventurous things like hiking, skateboarding/long boarding, and I love to engage in different cultures traditions and cuisines.

What is your favorite defensive scheme and why?

I honestly don’t have one. Playing defensive line with the combination of my strength and athleticism, I can play anywhere from 5 tech to a shade. But if I had to choose, I prefer a 3-4 vs run heavy teams and a 4-3 vs pass heavy teams.

How do you handle challenges both in life and on the football field?

I handle challenges in both life and on the football field through Christ, as well as seeking mentorship from my coaches and the elders in my life since they have more wisdom than me.

What would a team get in a player like you?

They would get a determined, hardworking young man that’s coachable and team oriented.

What are you looking forward to in your upcoming season?

I’m looking forward to winning all the games, as well as being a better player than I have in the past and being a leader on this defense.

Who is the most underrated player you’ve played with and why?

The most underrated player I’ve played with is by far Andrew Garnett. He was actually my rival here at Towson when he was still a player. He just declared this past year, free agent. I’m hoping to see him sign with a team very soon. He’s strong, big, agile. He’s better than both the San Diego State and North Dakota State offensive linemen I’ve played against, both those teams have some dudes at offensive line.
