Week 2 Small School Top Performers | Presented by the Hula Bowl

The Hula Bowl will be played in Orlando, Florida on January 13th, 2024 and is televised on CBS Sports. The scouts of NFL Draft Diamonds have worked for the past three years as the scouting staff for the Hula Bowl. We are excited to get the 2023-24 season underway, and had scouts in attendance to 15 plus games this week. With tons of great football games in the NCAA this week, we wanted to break down several of the Top Performers in the Small Schoolers that would have eligibility to play in our game. Let’s break down some of the best performances from week 2.
Matthew Sluka, QB, Holy Cross – Holy Cross lost 31-28 to Boston College, but Matt Sluka had a great game. He finished the game 10/15 for 130 yards passing and led the team in rushing with 19 carries for 131 yards and 2 touchdowns. He was averaging 6.9 yards per carry.
Jermaine Corbett, RB, Stonehill – The 5’9 running back from Long Branch, New Jersey had a great day against CCSU. Corbett finished with 28 carries and 182 yards on the ground and one touchdown. Corbett looked very good against CCSU and he helped Stonehill get the huge win.
Dylan Laube, RB, New Hampshire – He made the list two weeks in a row. He plays possessed, he finished with 30 yards and one touchdown on the ground, but he added 12 receptions for 295 yards receiving with 2 additional touchdowns. New Hampshire lost to CMU 45-42. Laube is their return man too, this is crazy production against the MAC!
Ty James, WR, Mercer – Mercer star wide receiver Ty James tore it up this week against Morehead State. He finished the game with 5 receptions for 146 yards and one touchdown. He had a nice 75 yard reception for the Bears.
Nick Gaes, DL, South Dakota – Gaes recorded seven tackles, five tackles for loss, three sacks, and a forced fumble this week. Gaes is a 6’4, 275 pound pass rusher that was everyone on the field this week. he is a tough player with a ton of power.
