What made you decide you wanted to be a football player?
I was actually the first in my family to play football most of my family played soccer or basketball and when I started playing football I didn’t like it but I stuck with it and I have learned to like it and found out I was really good at it more than any other sport.
What are your favorite moments from your football life?
In high school winning the state championship. At my JUCO my first game I started and won defensive player of the week and that was big for me to show I can play at the next level and get better. And winning honorable mention my first season at Wheeling.
Which family member inspires you the most and why?
It would be my mother, just because she’s literally been supporting me and my sisters working 2 jobs after my dad left and still made dinner for us when she came home. That’s why I want to be successful whenever I need that push I think of my mother.
What type of energy do you bring onto the football field?
I’m a guy who just steps on the field and goes all out. I play with that F you energy.
If you could hang out with any football player past or present for a day who and why?
It would definitely have to be Ray Lewis, because when Ray Lewis was on the football field he was someone who I loved watching. So he would be someone I would love to learn from for a day.
How do you prepare for games?
I would wake up and read a bible verse, listen to gospel music and just watch film on the other team until I suit up and pray right before I step onto the football field.
What should we know about Jason Simon the person?
I’m really goofy but shy and I don’t talk to someone unless they talk to me, I like to laugh and I’m very religious.
What is your favorite defensive scheme and why?
I like the 3-4, 3 defensive linemen and 4 linebackers because I love playing down in the trenches as a defensive end and I like playing linebacker and covering and I think that the 3-4 scheme allows me to play both.
How do you handle challenges both in life and on the football field?
Every time I face a challenge I usually call my mom and pray about it with a bible verse where one of the apostles has a challenge and it’s in God’s hands and God will find me an answer.
What would a team get in a player like you?
I will bring hard work, commitment and I love learning something and teaching it to others. I’m a family guy and once I’m on your team I consider you family and I bring energy.
What are you looking forward to in your upcoming season?
What I’m looking forward to next season is playing and learning more.
Who is the most underrated player you’ve played with and why?
Makiya Caesar, from my JUCO he played running back and he was a dog. He didn’t play alot but he should’ve started. He sat out one game until the 4th quarter once and he the got ball and scored a touchdown. He’s unstoppable with the ball.
