NFL Draft Diamonds Free Agent Interview: Marquise Manning, Defensive Back
Hello, I am @jrberendzen on Twitter and this is one of my free agent interviews where I ask very deserving free agents questions about the players themselves and about what a team would get in these players. All of these players should get picked up by NFL, CFL, USFL and XFL teams and get a shot at being a career football player. What are you looking to achieve as a football player going forward?
Going forward I’d like to achieve a long lasting career at the next level . Being a Division 2 All American I know once I get the chance I can prove my value as a player.
What made you decide you wanted to be a football player?
I made that decision at the age of 3 or 4, growing up in jersey the neighborhood groomed us for game. I fell in love with the competitiveness and physicality it takes to play the game.
What is your typical training routine?
Typical training day is getting lift in early or afternoon heavy emphasis on conditioning style workouts for reps and time, then compounding that with either field work or resistance running later in the day.
If you could hang out with any football player past or present for a day who and why?
To be around guys like Brian Dawkins, Ed Reed, Ray Lewis and share the energy and intensity they bring to a football game.
What do you think are the keys to success on the football field?
Confidence, preparation, and patience.
What type of energy do you bring onto the football field?
I play with urgency and enthusiasm I try to radiate that energy to my teammates.
What should we know about Marquise Manning the person?
I’m the type of person that will not give up. At every level of my career I’ve been doubted and over looked. It’s only fitting that my journey to the NFL be the same way.
What sets you apart from other defensive backs?
Patience and ball skills are the things that set me apart from other backs.
How do you handle challenges both in life and on the football field?
I always take care of the things that are within my control, knowing that I put my best efforts into overcoming a challenge is all I need to be satisfied.
What would a team get in a player like you?
A team will be adding a driven and hardworking player, I’ll be in their facility improving my skills until I become a starter.
What is your favorite coverage and why?
Man coverage, It’s you vs one other person and there’s a blitz on you know you’ll get something quick.
If there was a billboard with 5 of your traits on it which 5 traits would be up there?
Enthusiastic, high energy, competitor, coachable and athlete.
