Former College Quarterback Identified as Victim of Devastating Plane Crash in DC

A tragic plane crash near Washington, D.C., on Wednesday night claimed the lives of dozens, including former Navy quarterback Brian Ellis.
Ellis, a 1993 graduate of the U.S. Naval Academy was among the 60 passengers and four crew members who perished when an American Airlines regional jet collided with a U.S. Army Black Hawk helicopter just outside Ronald Reagan National Airport.
The crash, occurring approximately 350 feet in the air, also resulted in the deaths of three U.S. military personnel aboard the helicopter. Authorities are continuing their investigation into the cause of the mid-air collision.
Ellis, who proudly represented the Navy football team, played in 22 games during the 1991 and 1992 seasons. The U.S. Naval Academy Alumni Association has issued a statement expressing their deep sorrow over his untimely passing.
