Building the Future: T.C. Taylor’s Freshman Standouts Shine Bright for Jackson State
Jackson State head coach T.C. Taylor is laying the foundation for a promising future with the development of his young players. Now in his second full season, Taylor has shaped the JSU Tigers into a cohesive unit, with leaders like Jacobian Morgan, Irv Mulligan, and Robert McDaniel setting a strong example on and off the field.
The Jackson State freshman class has also stepped up, with players like Nate Blount, who tallied 5 carries for 36 yards, and Kobe Boykin, who added 2 carries for 25 yards, showing promise. However, the breakout star has been freshman Travis Terrell Jr.
Terrell made a splash against Valley State on Saturday, racking up 68 yards on just 6 carries and scoring two touchdowns. His stats this season are impressive: 51 carries for 345 yards and 3 touchdowns, along with 12 receptions for 74 yards. He’s also a force on special teams, with 22 returns totaling 661 yards and 2 touchdowns.
Looking ahead, Jackson State’s freshmen will face a tough matchup against Alabama State’s standout freshmen, Jamarie Hostzclaw and Kareem Keye.
