Player Summary:

Jamaal Pritchett started 12 out of 15 games played at WR in 2023-2024. Prior to that, he contributed on special teams in 2022 and played one season at ALTU in 2021. The offensive scheme that ALSO runs is a balanced, spread offense. He has poor height and weight as a traditionally undersized WR with a compact, athletic build. His overall athletic ability is very good with very good acceleration, lateral quickness, and agility; good speed, COD, balance, and foot quickness; solid lower body strength and leaping ability. He has a very good release of the line against soft/off cover with very good acceleration and quick feet to stem away from defenders and is very good at finding openings in zone cover, using his very good speed to get to void spaces quickly. He is rarely met with press coverage nor met with a jam off the LOS which does not allow observation of his ability to fight through contact off the line. While he played on the LOS routinely in college, he will likely be best suited as a Slot WR off the line until he can prove that he can win against press/jam. He is good at separating from defenders using his very good acceleration, good speed and FBI to angle away from defenders and also shows solid ability to go across the middle of the field through traffic. He has very good hands and routinely makes catches through contact from defenders and when falling to the ground. His concentration and ball tracking abilities are solid on deep throws, but he does have the tendency to turn his head downfield to look at what is ahead of him which can affect his tracking ability at times. His concentration and body control near the sidelines to keep his feet in bounds are both good and he can make most catches around his frame when uncontested. There are some limitations to his catch radius due to his undersized body and this also affects his ability to come down with 50/50 balls, and there are situations where he could negate this by working back towards the ball. He has good overall YAC ability using his very good acceleration, good speed, foot quickness and field vision. Additionally, he shows good competitiveness as he does not look to go out of bounds and does not go down easily, often breaking one-on-one tackles. There are occasions when he jumps to catch passes when it is not necessary, which slows down his ability to collect, turn and run upfield for more yards. He displays solid run blocking ability as he is a willing blocker and is good at getting in position in front of defenders, with solid hand placement. His shorter arm length can cause his blocking attempts to be shed by defenders.

Scheme Fit:

Pass Heavy or Balanced, West Coast as a Slot WR

Power Statement:

Jamaal Pritchett is very good at separating from defenders in soft/off coverage and is also very good at finding zone openings, with very good hands to make all catches in his radius and against most contested catches. His very good athletic ability and FBI to find openings in the defense and help create YAC are his biggest strengths. His limited opportunities to display his ability to fight through contact throughout his routes will be the biggest question about translating to the NFL. If he can build on his solid 2023 season, he can be considered as a late-round/UDFA developmental prospect in 2025.
