Former CFL football player reportedly stole thousands of dollars in COVID-19 relief funds
Pacino Horne a former Canadian Football League player for the Toronto Argonauts is in trouble after defrauding the government of 150,000 dollars in COVID-19 relief aid.
There were many programs designed to help people struggling during the COVID-19 pandemic and by the sounds of it, Horne was only trying to help himself.
One of those programs was the Economic Injury Disaster Loan (EIDL) program, which provided low-interest financing to small businesses affected by the pandemic.
Horne applied to the EIDL loan through a business called Day1 Records LLC.
Horne’s loan application was approved on Feb. 20, 2021, and $149,900 in EIDL funding was dispersed to Day1 Records. Horne reportedly withdrew part of the funds in cashier checks that same day to purchase a restaurant.
Horne was a safety at Central Michigan before earning an opportunity in 2008 with the Detroit Lions. He would not stick around and end up in Toronto to play in the CFL.
