Cowboys sign Brandon Aubrey | Can he win the Dallas Cowboys kicking competition?

Written by Karver Jordan

The Dallas Cowboys are signing two-time USFL Champion Brandon Aubrey. This guy is automatic and has quite a two-year stint with the Stallions. Let’s take a look at the 2022 season.

2022 season:

In ten games, Aubrey would connect on 18 of his 22 Field goal attempts which is around an 81.8% FG Percentage. On Extra Points he would be clutch, he would make 22 out of his 24 attempts with a percentage of 91.7%. The longest FG of the season was 49 yards. Aubrey would head into the USFL Off-season as a champion but he wasn’t finished quite yet. In 2023 it was a whole different story.

2023 Season:

Out of the ten games Aubrey played in he would make 14-15 of his field goal attempts racking up a great percentage of 93.3%. Yet again his longest field goal of the season would be 49 yards just like the previous season. He would go for 100% on Extra Points 35-35 he was phenomenal. The Cowboys have really gotten themself a kicker, it is going to be exciting to see how it plays out.

Kicking competition in Dallas?

The Cowboys have two kickers on their roster now as training camp is right around the corner. It is just Tristan Vizcaino and Brandon Aubrey. Tristan Vizcaino has only played in ten NFL career games. Vizcaino would make 11 out of his 12 field goal attempts, a FG percentage of 91.7%. Tristan’s career long is 47 yards, thats pretty solid. On Extra Points, the journeyman kicker would nail 15 of his 20 attempts with a Extra Point percentage of 75.0%. Does the veteran beat out the new guy for the starting job? Or does the USFL Star make his way to the starting role?

Writers final thoughts:

Who do I think is going to win the competition? Well it’s definitely gonna be up to who is more consistent. We have never seen Aubrey vs an NFL Special teams unit. This is a rising topic to watch in Cowboy training camp.
