In 2002 while playing for Alabama A&M, current Indianapolis Colts defensive end Robert Mathis etched his name in the SWAC record books with a record-setting 20-sack performance. That record was recently broken by Adrian Hamilton the outside linebacker of the Baltimore Ravens, but Mathis continues to shine in the NFL.
Robert Mathis’ strip-sack in the third quarter led to a Donald Brown touchdown catch six plays later. Mathis led the NFL with 19.5 sacks and eight forced fumbles during the regular season.
