Player Summary:

Kuntz possesses a rare combination of agility, intelligence, and an elite frame for the TE position. The Move TE who had the 2nd most receptions at the position last year can line up anywhere on the field and is heavily used in the motion game for the Monarchs. He has good speed and adequate play strength, and stands out with his athletic ability for his size. He has very fluid hips which lends to explosive cuts in his route and great balance throughout the play. He has a good release and the route running ability of a wideout, but is still very active as a blocker. Kuntz is a smart, heads-up blocker who utilizes good leverage with his range across run blocking, pass protection, and upfield blocking. The Penn State transfer shows above average ability to sustain and finish blocks, often picking up two defenders to set up the play. Kuntz is one of the Monarchs primary playmakers although does not show consistent physicality in contested catches. At his size, another 10-15 pounds of muscle could help in that regard, as he should be able to dominate every 50/50 ball that comes his way. Kuntz shows good awareness of open space in his routes, which sets him up well to secure extra yards before first contact. As an integral focus of the Monarchs’ offense, Kuntz excels wherever he is needed on the field.

Scheme Fit:

Given his prowess as a blocker, prototypical size, and movement fluidity, Kuntz would be a good addition to any system in need of a receiving TE.

Power Statement:

Kuntz is an intelligent TE who excels as a blocker and moves very well as a receiver. He lacks consistency when catching in traffic, but an addition of weight to his elite frame should assist him at the next level. Kuntz projects to be a developmental mid-late round pick with high upside and the potential to become an all-around Draft Diamond.
