Eagles should pass on Sam Bradford if they have to pay him more than 12 million a year
The Eagles are not in a great position when it comes to the quarterback position, but at this point, can they really afford to give Sam Bradford 16-18 million dollars a season which he is looking to land?
I do not feel that Sam Bradford is worth 12 million a year, that is just my opinion. The Eagles have Mark Sanchez on their roster, and they can always try to sign Nick Foles back this off-season. In a podcast on the Eagles’ website, Howie Roseman said he wants Bradford to play for the Eagles in 2016, but it has to be for a deal that works for the Eagles.
“We’ve all been clear that we like Sam, and we’d like to have him back. It goes then between all of us and whether we can figure something out that makes sense on both sides,” said Roseman “Sometimes we get into a situation where we sit here and it will make sense from the team’s perspective but when you’re talking about a negotiation, it’s also got to work for the other side and the player, and we understand that. But hopefully this will all work out and we’ll look at that depth chart when we line up here in July and be really excited about the position.”
Roseman was asked about bringing back Nick Foles and letting Sam Bradford walk before giving him his 6 million dollar bonus that is expected to hit before the season begins. His answer seemed like the idea of Foles is not off the table.
“You sit in the office right now and there’s not a lot of names on the quarterback depth chart that are under contract right now. And so we’ve gotta look at every option,” Roseman said.
I personally feel the Eagles could try to land Chase Daniel, or draft a quarterback in the mid rounds. Shoot if a good quarterback falls to them round one get him. At this point though, do not mortgage your future by giving Sam Bradford 16 million a season, because he may end up hurt the entire year again.
