Should the NFL have a statute of limitations on their investigations?

@McCannSportsLaw: It’s been 181 days since the AFC Championship Game, 72 since Wells Report and 24 since Brady’s appeal. Deflategate is becoming Delaygate.

That is insane considering how long the investigation has taken for Roger Goodell and the NFL to finalize a punishment.

Many companies have what they call a statute of limitations to find one guilty of wrongdoing. For example, I work for the Federal Government and after 90 days, the investigator has to ask for an extension. If they do not do so then the case is null and void.

So if the Government has one why shouldn’t the NFL? I would like to hear what you all think? Is the NFL just keep this in the media to make more money?
