Congrats UAB Football fans, it worked…. FOOTBALL IS BACK.
Here is what was said by President Ray Watts today:
“As of today we are taking steps to reinstate the football, bowling and rifle programs,” Watts said.
Watts added that UAB plans to remain an FBS team in Conference USA. New athletic director Mark Ingram reinforced that the university will begin working with the NCAA and Conference USA to keep its FBS status and conference standing.
The reinstatement was made possible by $17.2 million in external donations, Watts said
“It’s truly a great day for UAB and the community,” said Ingram, who was hired last month.
Ingram said that they met with students, faculty and staff, alumni, city officials and coaches in making the decision to bring back football.
