What is your favorite workout or drill and why?

I love doing power cleans and doing squat jumps. So just working on my explosiveness because I feel like that’s the kind of player I am if I can be explosive then nobody can stop me up front or when I’m playing on the edge and have to drop back at outside linebacker. Power cleans and box jumps and simple stuff like that because my explosiveness is what makes me, me.

What are you looking to achieve as a football player in the next 3 years?

To just make it into the locker room, you know that’s always the first step I know a lot of guys talk about starting or making it onto an NFL team. It’s simply just making it in a locker. You know it’s one step at a time for me, so the first step is making it into a locker room. That way I have the chance to show what I’ve got and show that I can compete with dudes of a high level that I’ve been there and been doing this for a while and that I can hang with these dudes and if not do better than some of these dudes that are already in the league and so just making it into the locker room is my goal right now.

What is one thing scouts should see about your game and why?

Definitely my explosiveness off the line and how I see things in the game I’ve talked to a lot of scouts who said they see my mind going before the play even starts and it’s like I’m reading what you are about to do before you even do it. So definitely the mental aspect of my game being able to know when things are coming and adjusting my body to how things might be and just my explosiveness and my effort, there’s barely a rare time you will see me dogging to the football I believe that since I’m always running I can make the play even if that’s 20 yards down the field or 95 yards downfield I’m going to catch you at some point and get where I got to go.

What does a normal day look like for Isaiah Farmer?

On a daily basis I wake up around 3 am because I’m a personal trainer and I wake up, and I train/teach about 3-4 classes in the morning and then after that I’m going straight into a workout session for at least 2 to 3 hours straight whether that’s footwork or lifting or running and none of my workouts are just lifting usually there’s always a running component for the most part whether that’s cross training for the day or just sprinting only and working on my craft I typically do that around 7 to 10 am and after that I go straight into some more work opportunities whether that’s going to be more personal training or learning different certifications to set myself up for the future. I’m trying to get my doctorate as well right now. Then when it hits 3 o’clock I’m coaching high school football to give back to the community I coach outside linebackers and running backs right now so teaching the younger guys who never had a coach in that position to teach those guys how to see the game, how to play it and how to be smart about it. Then after about 6 or 7 o’clock I go back to the gym, and I do like a small recovery lift whether that’s in the pool or whether I’m in the recovery room rolling out doing some normal tech stuff to get my legs prepped and ready for the next day.

Which current or former NFL coach would you want to learn from the most and why?

They are all great and I would love to learn from all of them because there’s an unlimited amount of knowledge in the game of football and every coach is different and has a different take on everything and aspect of what they bring and how they teach it so I’d love to learn from anybody.

What was your favorite experience from the last team you were on?

At West Virginia State we were playing Frostburg State, and it was senior night. You know just having the chance to go out there and play ball with guys you’ve known for so long. I remember during that game we were whooping up on that team pretty early and you know no matter what because of how we were communicating we just flew around like no other team I’ve been a part of and there was one play I specifically remember where we have little stunts up front and me as an outside linebacker I had to come up in the box this one time because it was a goal line situation and I had to go from being a stand up outside linebacker to pop down to a three tech and shoot the gap and absolutely crack Frostburg State’s running back and I remember the dude losing his shoe, the ball popping out and just the electricity of West Virginia State just popping up and rising up as we celebrated getting the ball back to our offense to finish out the game.

Which one of your former teammates deserves a chance and why?

Nazir Jones, he’s 5′ 9″ 270 but that dude’s explosiveness on and around the football is crazy even at our pro day he performed but he was a smaller guy, and those guys tend to get overlooked. So, Nazir Jones is definitely one of those guys I’d trade places with, and I absolutely would because he deserves it and he works just as hard as I do for it. He’s just sometimes overlooked because of his height simply but I will tell you his power, his strength and the mental aspect of his game is something that is absolutely crazy. So definitely looking at him you know doing that I would absolutely trade that for him.

What makes you an intriguing player that deserves to be signed?

Just what I can help bring to a program. You know everybody might say that but not everybody puts their money where their mouth is, everybody talks about themselves and how they can do what they got to do you know. At the end of the day, I do understand that being a professional football player is a business. but you know what I can do beyond that is more astonishing. So definitely the mental aspect that
I bring to the game and what I bring into a locker room. I definitely think that that helps separate me from other individuals, there’s never going to be a dull moment when you’re with me. I’m always going to find something funny within the moment to talk about even in the serious moments when we may be down, there’s something funny that’s I’m going to find and bring to the light, that way everyone around me is doing what they got to do as we complete it together, I always have an analogy for everything being a military brat so most of the time I’m going to be like “Hey, you know it’s simple and you got to do what you got to do” and I’m going to give you like a military knowledge or just give you something different. In my years of life, I’ve done a lot, I’ve seen a lot, I’ve lost a lot of great friends that made a huge impact on me, so definitely bringing that knowledge to the table helps a lot as well.
