Explore the impressive career of Jordan Favors, a top defensive back with All-Sun Belt honors and clutch performance skills.

At a position where instincts, versatility, and clutch performance define success, Jordan Favors has quietly emerged as one of the most reliable defensive backs in the Sun Belt. A redshirt senior at Appalachian State, Favors has appeared in 34 games with 16 starts, tallying 79 tackles, five interceptions, and 17 pass breakups. His 2023 season was a breakout campaign, tying for the conference lead in interceptions and earning All-Sun Belt honors. With experience in high-pressure games and a reputation for preparation and toughness, Favors enters the 2026 NFL Draft as a versatile, team-first defensive back who thrives in big moments. I sat down with Jordan to discuss his mindset, growth, and what makes him a player NFL teams can trust in their secondary.

You’ve appeared in over 30 games and started 16 in your career — what do you think sets you apart from other defensive backs in this year’s class?

I think what sets me apart is my work ethic and mindset. I don’t take any rep for granted, and I always try to do the little things right. I’m always prepared and give everything I have.

You tied for the Sun Belt lead with four interceptions in 2023 and had another pick this past season. What’s your mindset when the ball’s in the air?

When the ball’s in the air, I think it’s mine. I trust my eyes, my technique, and my film study. I just try to stay calm and make a play for my team.

You’ve made game-changing plays — from interceptions to blocked kicks to forced fumbles. What’s your approach to being a clutch performer when it matters most?

I don’t try to do too much. I focus on doing my job and staying locked in. Big plays come when you’re consistent and ready for your moment.

Your versatility stands out — you’ve contributed on defense and special teams and even played offense in high school. How has that helped shape your game?

Playing different roles has helped me understand the game better. I see things from different angles, and that helps me react faster and be more instinctive.

You had a career-high 10 tackles against Georgia State and have shown you’re not afraid to be physical. How would you describe your style as a strong safety?

I’d say I’m physical, smart, and dependable. I don’t shy away from contact, and I take pride in being a sure tackler and helping in the run game.

Whether it’s breaking up a pass or stopping a two-point conversion, you always seem to show up in key moments. What do you attribute that to?

That comes from preparation. I watch a lot of film, I know what’s coming, and I trust myself to react when it matters. I also love those moments — I want to be there when it counts.

You’ve played in high-stakes games — like the Sun Belt Championship and a double-overtime battle vs. UNC. What have you learned from those high-pressure environments?

I’ve learned to stay calm and focused. Big games come down to who can do their job under pressure. Those moments teach you to breathe, trust your training, and just play ball.

What does your weekly film prep look like? How do you study opposing quarterbacks and receivers?

I break down tendencies — what routes they like, what the QB looks for, formations, and how they react to different coverages. I take notes and go over them all week so I can play fast and smart.

You’ve improved year after year — what’s fueled your growth and consistency over your college career?

I’ve always wanted to prove I belong. I wasn’t handed anything, so I just kept my head down and worked. I listen to coaching, stay hungry, and keep trying to be better than the day before.

You’ve been praised for your toughness and football IQ — what qualities do you think make you an impact player at the next level?

I think my ability to learn quickly, play multiple spots, and stay locked in all game. I’m coachable, I care about winning, and I bring energy no matter what.

As someone who’s played both in the box and in coverage, where do you feel most comfortable — and how do you adapt to different roles?

I’m comfortable anywhere, honestly. I just want to help the team. If I need to play deep, cover a slot, or come down and hit, I’ll do it all and take pride in doing it right.

Your high school background shows you as a playmaker in all three phases. How did that experience help you build your instincts as a defender?

Playing offense and special teams gave me a better feel for the game. It helped me learn how players think, how plays develop, and how to read movements faster on defense.

What’s one game or play on your film that you think best represents who you are as a football player?

I’d say my two-interception game and big hit against Marshall. It showed my awareness, versatility, and that I’m always looking to make a play that changes the game.

When you’re not on the field or in the film room, how do you recharge and stay locked in off the field?

I keep things simple. I hang with family, listen to music, and stay in the Word. I try to stay grounded and keep my mind right.

What kind of teammate are you in the locker room? How do you lead or bring energy to your group?

I’m the guy who shows up every day with the same attitude. I lead by example, I’m going to work, encourage my teammates, and hold people accountable in a respectful way.

What’s a goal you’ve set for yourself at the next level — beyond just making a roster?

I want to earn the trust of my coaches and teammates, and eventually become a starter and leader. I want to show that I belong and make an impact on and off the field.

What message would you send to NFL teams considering drafting or signing you? Why are you a guy they want in their DB room?

You’re getting a guy who’s all about the team. I’m going to show up, work hard, and keep getting better. I’ve never had anything handed to me — I’ve earned everything, and I’ll keep doing that at the next level.

Jordan Favors doesn’t need the spotlight to shine — he just needs a role to fill, a game plan to execute, and a team to believe in. With a track record of clutch performances, a deep understanding of the game, and a relentless work ethic, Favors is the kind of defensive back who elevates a secondary and embodies the values NFL teams seek in a true professional.
