Former NFL Running Back Charged in the Largest Dog Fighting Ring in Federal History

Former Green Bay Packers running back LeShon Eugene Johnson has been indicted on 21 federal charges in connection with a large-scale dog fighting operation, according to the Justice Department.
It is considered the largest dog fighting ring in federal history.
Johnson, 54, of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, is accused of running “Mal Kant Kennels,” a breeding and trafficking business linked to dog fighting. Authorities recovered 190 pit bulls as part of the investigation.
Johnson previously pleaded guilty to similar state charges in 2004. If convicted, he faces up to five years in prison for each count and a $250,000 fine.
