Sugar Bowl postponed after Bourbon Street terrorist attack
The All-State Sugar Bowl between Georgia and Notre Dame has been postponed for 24 hours following a terrorist attack that left at least 10 dead and more than 30 injured.
Forty-two-year-old Shamsud-Din Jabbar, a U.S. citizen from Texas, drove a Ford pickup truck through a large crowd on Bourbon Street. In addition to pipe bombs in Jabbar’s truck, additional explosive devices were found around New Orleans and placed by three men and a woman, according to the Associated Press.
New Orleans FBI Alethea Duncan held a press conference about the attack on Bourbon Street Wednesday morning. During the presser, Duncan confirmed that the FBI is still investigating the suspect, Shamsud Din Jabbar, a 42-year-old from Texas.
“We are working to confirm how he came in possession of this vehicle,” Duncan said. “An ISIS flag was located on the trailer hitch of the vehicle, and the FBI is working to determine the subject’s potential associations and affiliation to the terrorist organization.”
“Weapons and potential improvised explosive devices IED were located in the subject’s vehicle.”
“We aggressively running down every lead, including those of his known associates,” Duncan added. “That’s why we need the public’s help.”
