What made you decide you wanted to be a football player?

Football has been something that I’ve been surrounded by my whole life. My father played football his whole life and it was something he always wanted me to enjoy too. At first, I didn’t like football but something clicked when I returned to it. The brotherhood aspect drew me back but now I just want to play to help pay back my family for all the support over the years.

What are your favorite moments from your football life?

Beating San Diego for the first time in program history last season. It was cool to play a big role in that game and do something no team was able to do before. Also just hanging out with my friends on our away trips and at practice everyday.

Which one of your family members inspires you the most and why?

My father inspires me the most. He constantly supports me and my brothers no matter what is going on in his life and shows me how family means more than anything. He also developed my love and passion for sports and taught me how to work hard for what I want.

What is your typical training routine?

I try to focus a lot on mobility and footwork in my training. Besides weightlifting, I stretch and take yoga classes to be mobile on the field. I also put a huge emphasis on footwork in football training so that when it comes to games it’s naturally practiced movements.

If you could hang out with any football player past or present for a day, who and why?

Dennis Gardeck, since he’s a player that I have studied and tried to take parts of his game. He also came from a small school and has become a mainstay of the Cardinals defense so would love to hear about his journey.

What are your favorite things about playing football for Marist?

My teammates. I have found some of my closest friends here and every year I develop new friendships with new kids on the team that I can call brothers. I also like playing for our defensive scheme which takes a lot of the stress out of the game for me.

What should we know about Miles Kauderer the person?

I stick to myself and I’m loyal to my people. I have a strong sense of commitment and bring passion to whatever I’m doing.

What is your favorite defensive scheme and why?

I like 3-4 schemes. I like how the outside linebackers are used in a 3-4. There are tons of players that are athletic and big enough now to be able to rush the passer while dropping back in coverage. I feel like a lot of the most efficient defenses run primarily 3-4 fronts.

How do you handle challenges both in life and on the football field?

On the football field, I just fall back to my fundamentals and belief in what I do. In life, it is essentially the same thing, I fall back on my principles and don’t let hard times break me because there’s always light following dark times. No matter what the situation there is always a lesson to take and use as growth.

What would a team get in a player like you?

A coachable player and a leader. A guy who won’t stop improving and will lift up his teammates around him to improve. A guy who wants to win and see his team succeed. An all-around team player and hard worker.

What stands out about your film the most?

My technique and speed. I think I do a great job using my body positioning and size to take advantage of bigger OL and speed to make plays.

Who is the most underrated player you’ve played with and why?

Mohamed Diawara and Brock Bagozzi. Those two kids are definitely some of the most hardworking teammates and talented teammates I’ve shared the field with. They pushed me to better myself every day.
