Player Summary:

Immediately noticeable is the physical presence he brings to the DLine. He is all of 6’3” 260lbs. He has long, well toned arms and fits the bill of a NFL defensive end from a pure looks perspective. Then you watch him line up anywhere on the DLine. He will line up as a 4-tech, 3-tech, and stand up edge depending on the defensive scheme. When the ball is snapped his get-off from the line is average. As a stand up edge, he gets his best burst. Coming out of his stance, regardless of starting position, he plays high and stands nearly vertical when making first contact which can lose him some power in his strike and lessen his knockback. Combined with a lack of lower half mass and he can struggle with play strength at times when bull rushing a lineman one-on-one. He is best utilized as a stand up rush coming off the right edge. Partially due to his ability to shed a tackle’s hand with a chop or swim around that edge which he has an above-average proficiency at executing. When lined up on the interior he is primarily just using his length to be a run stopper and does not generate penetration. While effective in this role he is more impactful for his team as a pass rusher. His effort in pursuit is also a factor that is impactful in game. He may not have the fastest burst off the line but he can hit a solid top speed in the open field when chasing down a QB. It is hard to avoid a sack from him due to his length and effort in pursuit.

Overall, he is a NFL build who plays high, has good versatility, functional get off speed, few but effective pass rush techniques, and relentless effort in pursuit. He is a guy that has a shot at the pro-level, especially with more time to develop his low half play strength and technical abilities.

Scheme Fit:

Versatile defensive lineman who has taken snaps at every position along the front; however, plays best as a stand up edge rusher either playing for contain or pressure.

Power Statement:

Lengthy edge rusher with prototypical NFL framing. Functional speed for a stand up edge rusher. Limited by an effective set of pass rush techniques. His length and effort are undeniable.
