Player Summary:

An extremely versatile running back who has an undersized frame but a strong knowledge of the game and an excellent sense of opposing defenses. Standing at 5’9”, he is undersized for the level of explosiveness that he displays on tape. Athletically, he has solid lateral mobility and can shift between the tackles well, but in open space, he can’t make defenders miss with moves, power, or pure speed. His acceleration and top-end speed are both marginal and significantly limit his game.

As a pure RB, he does possess good vision and patience with the ball in his hands. He can be relied on to hit the right hole or make the right cut on most snaps. The only instances where he saw the proper hole but couldn’t reach it were due to his limited athleticism. His vision and patience are his best traits as a running back and are what allow him to maintain a starting role despite a lack of explosive runs.

As a versatile football player, he brings a lot to a college offense that can use a 5’9” player in a variety of roles. He lined up at RB, wide receiver (WR), quarterback (QB), tight end (TE), and punter throughout the season. He succeeded in each of these roles, recording over 11 yards per catch, throwing a touchdown pass, scoring multiple touchdowns as a wildcat QB, and leading the team in average yards per punt. His football IQ is on full display in these moments, and it confirms what you can see in his runs: he knows how to read a defense. His versatility adds an extra edge in the college game, but at the NFL level, most teams do not need a 5’9” TE, a WR with marginal top-end speed, or a wildcat QB with average play strength.

Scheme Fit:

Any. He took 50 snaps as a QB, 350 as an RB, 2 at TE, over 100 as a WR, and also punted 8 times for a team-high 42.3 yards. He fits into any playbook and any scheme. He can execute any assignment; the concern is the level at which he can execute.

Power Statement:

Undersized for his playstyle. Lacks the strength or explosiveness to play RB at 5’9”. Provides versatility in his ability to take snaps anywhere on the offense and shows great vision, but he is physically limited from being a pro-level player.
