Mistrial declared in the murder of former William & Mary football player Nate Evans

Today a jury was unable to reach a verdict in the case of a former college football player’s death.
Keith Bryant is accused of killing William & Mary football player Nate Evans outside of an ODU house party in Norfolk back in 2019.
Throughout the trial, prosecutors claimed Bryant shot Evans during a marijuana sale for his friend, Kri’Shawn Beamon, but Bryant’s attorneys claimed it was Beamon who shot Evans twice in the back.
Norfolk Police arrested Beamon shortly after the shooting in 2019 and charged him with second-degree murder and robbery, but Bryant was not arrested until three years later. Bryant was being charged with first-degree murder and gun charges.
Jurors spent approximately five hours deliberating before concluding a verdict could not be reached.
The Evans family will continue to fight and search for the killer of their son. It is such sad situation.
