What made you decide you wanted to be a football player?
It was a way to allow me to bond at a young age with my dad as he was able to play professionally and the amount of love and fun he had for the game hit me hard which is what gave me the incredible amount of passion to play.
What are your favorite moments from your football life?
Starting in my first ever collegiate game as well as getting my first win in a game I started in.
What are you looking to achieve as a football player going forward?
Being able to continue to play at the highest level I have continued to play at and keep on building relationships along the way with new teammates and people.
Which one of your family members inspires you the most and why?
My mother as she has been able to show nothing but love and support to not only me but my sister as well as my dad as he was following his dreams. Which taught me to value the people you love and continue to support them even when it isn’t at your best interest.
If you could hang out with any football player past or present for a day who and why?
It would have to be Darius Slay as I model a lot of my game off of him and I would love to pick his brain some more on the way he plays and how he has been able to overcome not being highly recruited to the player he is now.
What is your favorite defensive scheme and why?
Man to man is my favorite because it is solely just a “you vs me” battle which is what excites any player, but I also enjoy zone coverages and being able to outsmart quarterbacks and OC’s to help bait a play to help allow my teammates to get a sack or get a pick to change the game.
What should we know about Franky West Jr the person?
Team first player who wants to continue to perfect any position he is put in and bring the most out of the people he plays with at whatever program he’s at.
What stands out about your film the most?
The composure I play with in any moment of the game from the 1st to the 4th quarter. Never panicking and being consistent with my performances in games.
How do you handle challenges both in life and on the football field?
With optimism keep moving on to the next stage no matter what has happened positive or negative. I was a walk on for two years before I got my first opportunity to play so I knew I would have to be patient and be ready for my time to come.
What would a team get in a player like you?
They will get a player who is fascinated with learning new ways to win games and willing to do anything to help the team he is on.
What do you love the most about the game of football?
The competitiveness and the fact that anyone of all sizes can make a difference whether you’re the biggest or the smallest.
Who is the most underrated player you’ve played with and why?
Landry Mavungu of University of Indianapolis. We attended the same high school in the same class and the guy did not get no where near the attention he should have back then and he was able to be the defensive player of the year in his conference as a corner.
