New Jersey High School star football player stabbed to death in New York City on Thanksgiving

A 17-year old football player from New Jersey was stabbed to death on Thanksgiving in lower Manhattan, according to police reports.

Rocco Rodden, an offensive lineman at St. Joseph Regional High School in Montvale, was fatally stabbed and killed.

According to police, they responded to a 911 call on Lafayette Street to find two stabbing victims. Rodden the football player was rushed to the Bellevue Hospital but did not make it. The other victim was Rocco’s brother who was stabbed in the torso as well and is in stable condition.

According to reports, the young men were at an Axe Throwing Bar for a private party.

Police have charged Gianluca Bordone a 19-year-old with the killing of Rodden.

An autopsy showed he died from a 6-inch stab wound, with the knife piercing the left ventricle of his heart, according to Manhattan Assistant District Attorney Eun Bi Kim.
