Player Summary:
Justin boasts a bulky, stout frame with a solid lower body and base. He has sufficient height and scales over in weight measurables and also possesses elite arm length. He lines up as IDL, and occasionally as wide as the 4/5 gap. He has very good functional strength which enforces his anchor against double teams in power runs and restricts the offensive line’s combo ability with his wide stance. Against single power runs he squeezes the blocker, sealing his gap. In zone runs, his power reinforces good UOH techniques that allow him to shed by dragging the lineman over or swimming past them. His efficiency allows him to blow through gaps in zone runs, slicing through the blockers. He has solid foot quickness that activates right after the snap, giving him an effective burst blowing right between blockers and disrupting plays, assisting in lateral pursuits that force the running back to change course. He is a solid tackler and will easily wrestle the ball carrier to the ground. In pass rush, he depends on his hands and arm extensions, testing the IOL’s anchor, and leveraging open space to alternate his angle, or change the blockers when pushing to the QB. He plays with good balance and refuses to be removed from his gap without great effort. He plays with high effort and makes the extra diving effort against the run, even diving when chasing a runner. Additionally, he refuses to give up on plays running to the whistle, and with intensity. He does struggle a little with flexibility, and if he is turned, he loses momentum and is vulnerable to giving up his gap. He also has adequate instincts, and at times is susceptible to making the wrong gamble, surrendering a gap for an explosive play when trying to squeeze a hole or working around one.
Scheme Fit:
IDL on any defense

Justin Rogers has shown success against the toughest of opponents at his level in the most competitive conference. He will be ready to make an impact immediately as a rookie.
