Player Summary:

rJr. Quincy yields a slim frame and an adequate height for his position. He transferred from Middle Tennessee after the 2021 season, he now rotates as an outside corner on both sides. He is a very savvy and intelligent player with good route recognition and instincts, who is competitive, carrying himself with great confidence. In man coverage, he poses solid hip movement with agility and uses his light feet to stay with the receiver, keeping hands on good measure (especially in tight coverage). He has sufficient deep speed when trailing and yields results by reading body movements when his back is to the ball. In off-coverage, he depends on his route recognition, awareness, and preparation to break on routes. In zone coverage, his solid play speed aids his FBI, allowing him to cover a wide radius. A good tackler who brings down any player in the open field and will occasionally blitz to disrupt a play behind the LOS. He often fights around screens because of his quick reaction, meeting the ball carrier with a low tackle after shedding. He has solid hands and can even highpoint the ball in the air. He also has experience as a KR at Middle Tennessee. He does have limited functional strength, which affects his tackling and carries to his coverage abilities. His low tackles will have a smaller effect on skill players at the next level, leading to more explosive plays or TD’s. He depends on his UOH, (which has minimal grip), and his speed to work around the block. Bigger, faster players will provide more of a challenge for him in block disengagement. He also is not a player to break up a pass with a big hit, opting to tip a pass or tackle after the fact. His sufficient burst is relied on often and presents a disadvantage against stiffer competition.

Scheme Fit:

Any scheme. Will need to bulk if running press man and will need to depend more on contact in heavy zone schemes.

Power Statement

Quincy Riley still has the remainder of this season and the next for eligibility, and if he can grow into his frame, he will be an effective and versatile player at the next level as a contributing rookie.
