Player Summary:

Graduate Student from Turks and Caicos who played high school football in New Jersey at Egg Harbor Township H.S. He played safety and LB while also running track, Rigby played with Chiefs RB Isiah Pacheco and credits him for helping improve his ability to chase down players in space. Good height, marginal weight, with adequate length and solid AA. He plays with solid acceleration, good lateral quickness, average COD, and fair foot speed. Good keying gap scheme run actions, he takes an effective path and projects where the blocker is going to attack, using his athleticism in space to evade OL and TE’s. Solid vs IZ, he displays good gap integrity, maintains his leverage until the RB makes a decision and uses good lateral quickness to meet the ball carrier in the attacked gap. Good understanding of what his AA is capable of vs runs outside of the tackle box, he consistently plays over the top of lead blocks and hook blockers using lateral quickness to stretch the play towards the sideline. Average shedding blocks at the POA, he consistently sheds WR/TE’s using solid hand dexterity, he is marginal taking on OG’s and OT’s when he can’t evade their block with AA. Solid timing the snap when blitzing, he has effective bend when attacking the EDGE and can rush freely through A/B gaps. Adequate in man coverage vs RB’s underneath when playing a catch technique, having subpar AA in comparison to the RB makes it where he needs to get a hand on them to hinder their route. Marginal in zone coverage, he is susceptible to being sucked in on PA because he takes an aggressive read step forward and keeps his eyes on the QB the entire time. He could improve significantly if he used a robot technique, it would help him accelerate fast enough to get into solid position vs crossing WR/TE’s.

Scheme Fit:

MLB in 1 or 2 gap scheme where he can blitz and play man coverage.

Power Statement

Yvandy Rigby is capable in run support, he has excellent gap integrity vs both zone and gap scheme concepts. He could improve as a tackler by gaining leverage with low pad level, and gathering himself in space so he can execute a strong wrap up. He is a liability in coverage, can be easily manipulated when playing zone because he is so locked in on the QB and loses his feel for where the receivers are in space.
