Player Summary:
Redshirt Senior from Farmington Hills, Michigan. Coming out of high school he was ranked the 3rd best OT recruit in Michigan (247Sports), receiving 1st team all-state honors as a two way player. Solid height and weight with good arm length. Above-average athlete with a large upper body, he has good initial quickness, lateral quickness, solid balance, and flexibility. Good pad level using a 4 pt stance primarily, his above-average initial quickness allows him to get upfield quickly. Solid taking on double teams, he is good at staying square to the LOS and using ground force to absorb the OL’s power and generate it back towards them minimizing the amount of push created. Plays with good length vs Zone scheme, he extends both arms into the chestplate of the OL creating more space for him to see the ball carrier, using good hand dexterity to shed at the POA. He shows a solid understanding of what his responsibility is in the run game, playing with good gap integrity. Adequate pass rusher due to inactive hands when clearing himself as well as finishing ability. He gets off the ball efficiently with good acceleration, primarily converting that speed to power and forcing the OL back into the pocket, creating opportunities for others on the DL by forcing the QB to use his legs. He wins the initial rush consistently, but lacks the UOH to free himself from a solid anchor. Solid crashing in the twist game, takes a very good path staying tight to the assignment, but could be more physical with the OL responsible for the looping DE. Plays with good effort and pursuit from the backside, he has a rare ability to work through traffic with such a large frame. Marginal processing gap scheme plays, does not key players flowing from the backside resulting in him getting pushed at the POA.
Scheme Fit:
1/3 tech in 4-3 two gap scheme
