Player Summary:
Jha’Quan Jackson is a 5th year senior at Tulane and is coming off back-to-back years of earning Paul Horning watch list honors. Overall good release at LOS, solid ability to fight through contact vs. Press, and good at attacking leverage in Off & Bail. Shows good separation quickness when getting in and out of breaks. Overall, a good route runner, with quick feet in and out of breaks and changes levels well. Shows good body control when adjusting to balls within the frame. Good tracking ability downfield to find the ball and come back to it if needed. Possesses good speed & acceleration to stretch the field & pick up chunk plays after the catch. Good lateral agility/COD in space can make defenders miss after catch & shows very good vision on screens to follow blocks on the perimeter. Possesses marginal height/wingspan to play on outside, and will transition to a slot. Adequate stem ability as RR, needs to set up routes better offline to create better leverage at the top of the route. Adequate hand strength tends to body catch instead of extending and catching with hands. Adequate CIT ability, because he catches with his body he struggles to haul in passes in tight coverage, as well as passes outside his frame. Possesses adequate physical strength, and will struggle to sustain blocks vs. bigger bodies.
Scheme Fit:
Slot in a West Coast system with vertical and screen concepts.
Power Statement:
Jha’Quan Jackson will get overlooked by most because of his size and designation to slot at the next level, but he possesses good traits that can make him productive as a slot in an NFL offense. His route running & YAC ability are key traits that will attract teams and set him up to be productive, if put in a system that allows him to work in space, he can develop into a good rotational piece that can provide meaningful production for a team.
