Player Summary:
A fifth year player who has been used as a X, Z, and slot receiver in an RPO offense that is centered around the run due to having a dual threat QB. Short but has a solid build with good AA, quick feet, long arms, and high IQ (mechanical engineer major). Varies his release and stems by changing his tempo, release point and adjusting his leverage. He also disguises his assignments either by starting for a block or using a slow release. Very good against zone coverages, able to read the coverage and sit in open space. Solid against man using his route manipulation, eye manipulation and leverage to get in DB blind spot to force them to adjust late to his routes and change in direction. A willing and able blocker, despite his size, he uses his long arms and leverage to maintain and hold blocks. Only concerns include his top speed as I was not able to see him take the top off a defense and that he lets the ball come to him which resulted in a few PBUs.
Scheme Fit:
Can be a slot receiver in a RPO or spread offense at the next level, has the ability and intelligence to be productive in this position.
Power Statement:
A slot receiver that uses his IQ, route manipulation and competitive toughness to have an instant significant role at the next level. Has the tools needed and would just need some refinement and coaching to his game.
