Alabama high school football player dies in a car accident after leading police on a high speed chase through two counties
An Alabama high school football player died early Monday morning when he wrecked his vehicle as police pursued him through two north Alabama counties.
Police attempted to stop 16-year-old Jaiden DeJarnett in the city, when Jaiden would not stop. He led police in pursuit stretching into Lawrence County.
The report claims that Decatur police officers attempted a traffic stop on Hwy. 67 near Danville Road at 2:40 a.m. on Sept. 4, when The driver, Jaiden DeJarnett, failed to stop and led police on a pursuit.
Police said DeJarnett lost control of the vehicle and then struck a tree on Jefferson Street in Courtland.
He was pronounced dead at the scene.
The report claims the Alabama high school football player was not wearing a seatbelt.
Jaiden DeJarnett played football for Sparkman High School in Harvest, Alabama.
