Player Summary:

Jawhar Jordan is heading into 2023 as a 5th year junior and is coming off a really good 2022 campaign where he led the team in rushing for the season and capped it off by winning the MVP of the Wasabi Fenway Bowl vs. Cincinnati. Jordan runs with overall solid patience & tempo as a runner and tends to make good/quick decisions. Shows good frontside vision around LOS to get north and south well and pick up positive yards consistently. Possesses good footwork around LOS & in space to work out of traffic well. Shows good ability to get skinny through gaps when lanes are tight and closing quickly. Possesses good burst and speed when hitting second level, able to break long runs if poor angles are taken. Plays bigger than his frame and possesses good contact balance, able to roll off tackles consistently if defenders don’t wrap up, and shows good ability to fall forward as well. Has good lateral agility and one-cut ability in space to make defenders miss in space. Overall good receiving ability, possesses good separation quickness, and has soft hands when catching, shows a solid route running out of the backfield as well. Size and frame is the biggest issue with Jordan as he’s been a committee back throughout his college career and projects at the next level. Has overall adequate backside/lateral vision around LOS, often passes up cut-back lanes to get north & south. Shows adequate physical strength and ability to run through tackles vs. bigger bodies in short-yardage situations. Marginal ability in pass pro to sustain blocks vs. bigger bodies on front 7.

Scheme Fit:

Outside Zone Running Scheme.

Power Statement:

Due to injuries and his size, Jordan has never served as a lead back in an offense which is why his numbers don’t jump out, but Jawhar Jordan is overall a really solid back who can transition well to the next level. Because of his size, he’ll likely serve as a committee back in the pros, but the combination of his decision-making, contact balance & footwork will allow him to find success at the next level. I believe he’ll need time to bulk up a bit and improve his vision to utilize cut-back lanes better but he’s a guy that will get picked up early on with the potential to develop into a legitimate contributor for an offense.
