Player Summary:
Jack Freeman is an RS Senior center. He has participated in 41 games in four years playing a majority of his games in the last two years (26 total). At 6030 300 lbs. Freeman has adequate size for the position. He makes up for his adequate size with many rare critical factors. Freeman was an Academic All-American in 2021 and helped anchor the #16 scoring offense nationally in 2022. He has very good athletic ability, play speed, and play strength. In addition, he plays with rare mental and physical toughness to go along with very good agility. He shows adequate balance at the point of attack. Freeman has rare quickness and elite snap ability. His flexibility, power, and leverage are adequate. In the passing game, he struggles to show power at the POA due to his adequate punch and leverage. You see this the most when he is dealing with the “0 Nose” technique where he has to snap and punch. He struggles to recover, and he requires extra help from his guards to deal with these techniques. When the “Nose” is shaded or he is facing a speed rush, this enables him to use his rare athletic ability and quickness. His recovery is very good, and he does not require as much assistance from his guards. Freeman is a rare run blocker with elite footwork. He is very good at sustaining blocks in all blocking schemes. Freeman is a nasty finisher. He is able to snap and move defenders from any technique. He is athletic enough to get to the second level. He needs to improve his finishing ability at the second level in 2022. There was no film of him “pulling” but based on his movement skills on screens and draws I have no doubt he would be a rare/elite pulling guard.
Scheme Fit:
Shanahan system (49ers, Rams, Bengals, Vikings, Dolphins, Packers, Jets, and Titans)
Power Statement:
Freeman is an offensive lineman with versatile potential. He has the framework to be able to play in any offensive system if he can become more consistent in pass pro and be able to handle more 1v1 blocks on the defensive line.
