Player Summary:

Redshirt Senior from Honolulu, Hawaii. Cordeiro originally committed to The University of Hawaii playing his first 4 seasons there before transferring to San Jose St. before the 2022 season. Marginal height and weight, with very good AA. Above-average acceleration, with good balance, COD, and arm strength that allows him to fit throws in tight windows. Good reading RPO/RO actions delivering the ball accurately and on time, making smart decisions handing off or pulling the ball. Has very good anticipation on deep curls, comebacks and digs putting the ball on the numbers right out of the WR’s break with good arm strength. Solid accuracy working short/intermediate routes with adequate touch, solid leading WR’s into open space. Very good deep ball accuracy, he consistently puts the ball where only his WR can get it, usually a back shoulder throw. Solid pocket awareness, uses very good AA and good COD to escape collapsing pockets while being able to make accurate throws outside the numbers while being on the move in both directions. Displays solid mental processing by hitting hot routes vs blitzes as well as making good decisions when throwing the ball away. Good rushing ability allows him to escape the pocket and create positive yards when there is blanketed coverage in the secondary. Adequate working through multiple reads, he bird dogs 1st read often throwing into tight coverage when the 2nd read has space for YAC. He relies on his mobility when the 1st read is not open, escaping the pocket when there is pressure and getting what he can. Marginal keeping his head on a swivel for checkdown options when escaping the pocket, opting to use his legs when there is a open RB in space. Adequate mechanics due to a long throwing motion and an open base when releasing the ball leading to occasional misses underneath and the rare miss on a deep ball inside the CB.

Power Statement:

Cordeiro is a mobile QB who likes to take shots downfield in 1v1 and COV-2 situations. Polishing off his throwing mechanics could improve ball placement underneath and deep ball accuracy to an elite grade.
