Player Summary:

6’9”, 315-pound fifth-year senior with an extensive, athletic frame and relatively slight upper & lower-body tangibles. Former four-star recruit and the top-ranked prospect in Minnesota from the Class of 2019. Accomplished HS wrestler who posted a 34-0 record as a senior. Redshirted his first season at Nebraska but has started every game since the beginning of the 2020 season. Possesses elite height/weight measurements with proficient foot/body quickness, body control, and bend. Fluid mover considering his size. Sneaky short-area quickness & foot speed in condensed spaces. Boasts an efficient bucket step and smooth lower-body agility to move laterally along the LOS and in the open field. Adequate COD in open space and the second level. Decent initial quickness, explosiveness, and get-off; Displays notable hip unlock and sufficient play strength at the POA. Uses solid hand & hat placement, strong hands, and a lengthy wingspan to gain a leverage advantage at the POA. Difficult to shed once inside of your frame. Exhibits quality mental instincts to anticipate stunts/twists and adjust to free rushers lined up outside the tackles. High-level toughness and a subtle mean streak. Flashes adept athleticism and balance when kick-stepping in his pass set. Lacks knee/ankle bend and pad level to protect the edge when speed rushers run the arc. Will beat edge rushers to the spot occasionally, but not consistently enough to feel confident about his upside as an every-down RT. His height and poor pad level also leave him susceptible to the bull rush. Will anchor through his steady lower half, but cannot rely solely on his play strength to bail him out at the next level. His position versatility and upside at guard remain questionable.

Scheme Fit:

Right Tackle in a wide-zone, power-gap heavy run scheme and an RPO-based pass scheme.

Power Statement:

Benhart is one of the largest offensive tackles in college football and will be the second-tallest offensive lineman once he enters the NFL in 2024. Capable pass and run blocker with a unique blend of top-end size and impressive athleticism, quickness, FBI, and toughness.
