Player Summary:

Kam Arnold is a 4th year senior who started his college career as a safety but was moved to LB in 2021. He possesses an elite frame for position as well as overall good athletic ability. Overall good in run support, showing solid ability to leverage interior gaps & very good ability to leverage perimeter runs in both Man & Gap. Arnold shows instincts and reactions in Gap specifically, he does great job reading pullers and getting downhill to fill lanes. Displays solid block shed ability on interior and good block shed ability on perimeter runs. Shows good tackling ability between gaps and overall solid ability in space. Possesses good pursuit ability in space, consistent at taking good angles to the ball. Solid route rec ability in Man & very good route rec when in Zone. Displays very good ability to match/mirror in Zone, as well as in Man vs RB’s and TE’s. Possesses good transition quickness and click-close speed in space when attempting to make play on ball. Possesses very good ball skills for a guy at his position, shows good hands and timing when making plays on the ball. Although his interior gap leverage is overall good, he’s got a tendency to overrun interior gaps to beat plays to the perimeter which creates open cutback lanes. While overall good at stack & shedding, he doesn’t possess good flexibility to get around blocks when his opponent has an angle on him. Displays solid speed and range sideline-sideline on perimeter plays. Adequate ability as blitzer, has tendency to get lost on interior vs bigger bodies, struggles to get skinny on interior.

Scheme Fit:

4-3 Sam LB

Power Statement:

Kam Arnold is a very intriguing player; he has elite size/frame for position to perform very well vs run and as a former safety, he possesses good coverage ability as well. Because of his experience playing DB, Arnold played nickel as well in passing situations and held up very well in Zone. He’s going to be a chess piece at the next level for a defensive coordinator and provide great versatility. I think his versatility and overall abilities will set him up well to succeed at the next level. I believe he can develop into a starter over time and become very productive and a key piece for a team.
