Player Summary:

Has made Academic All-Big 10 the past 2 years at Minnesota. Possesses good height and very good frame for prototypical X. Has good, quick, single release off LOS vs press, plays with good physicality to fight through press as well. Good manipulation with head and shoulders at top of routes to set up release well. Shows overall good hands at all levels of the field, both in space and contested. Good tracking ability and body control when locating and adjusting to the ball, good body control and has when extending outside frame as well. Possesses very good physical strength and contact balance after catch, flourishes bouncing off tackles and racking up yards after catch. Very good blocker on the perimeter in the running game, very physical at point of attack and able to sustain blocks very well. Adequate release vs Off & Bail needs to work on attacking blind spots as well as setting up routes by stemming early on to create more leverage. Displays adequate/average separation quickness, could struggle creating separation on more complex routes. Possesses questionable speed & acceleration, struggles creating separation vertically as well as outrunning defenders at 2nd level. Possesses average lateral agility/quickness to make defenders miss after catch as well.

Scheme Fit:

X receiver in a run heavy/play action scheme.

Power Statement:

Daniel Jackson is a prototypical X and best translates as an X in a run heavy/play action scheme at the next level. His size, contested catch ability and contact balance after catch makes him a great fit for an offensive scheme with vertical and crossing concepts, his limited separation quickness can make it hard for him to create separation on more complex routes. I believe Jackson has the ability to be drafted and/or make a team early on and develop into a top 4 option on a team if put in the right situation, he’s definitely got the ability to stick around the league for a long time if he continues to develop.
