What made you decide you wanted to be a football player?

I’ve been playing football since I was 6 so it’s been a lifelong pursuit. I’ve built a ton of great relationships playing this game and been a part of some incredible moments that I really couldn’t have done anywhere else.

What are your favorite moments from your football life?

Recently, our 2021 season at Purdue was really special. The two top 5 wins were amazing to be part of and to cap it all off with the Music City Bowl win with really no one believing in us was up there for sure. From the way back machine, I was part of the team for my high school that won our first D1 state playoff game and that meant a lot to us and our community.

Which one of your family members inspires you the most and why?

I would say my sister because of how dedicated she is in her pursuits. She wants to be a physical therapist and puts in just as many hours as I do if not more studying and trying to be the best she can be academically to set herself up to be successful.

What are you looking forward to in your upcoming season?

I’m looking forward to the challenge of playing in a new conference. I’ve had a little bit of experience against the ACC but week in week out it’ll provide some new challenges compared to playing in the Big Ten.

If you could hang out with any football player past or present for a day who and why?

Andrew Whitworth is a guy who I would love to sit down with and be able to pick his brain. He was a master at his craft and played at a high level for so long. He also had a huge impact on the city of Cincinnati when he was here and it’d be great to ask him about that.

What do you love the most about the game of football?

I think the challenges that playing offensive line presents makes it so enjoyable. A lot of the movements are not natural movements and you have to work tirelessly to improve and perfect your craft. And then the group aspect of it as well. You have to be tied together as a group of 5 to have success and building that chemistry is enjoyable as well.

What should we know about Eric Miller the person?

That in everything I do, it’s full effort. Whether that’s on the field, in the meeting room, academic wise or playing corn hole in the backyard I’m someone who’s extremely competitive and wants to win.

What is your favorite offensive scheme and why?

Being part of Coach Brohm’s offense has been great because I’ve been exposed to so many different schemes. But if I had to pick one I’d say pin and pull. It really gives the offensive line a chance to get out and showcase their skillsets and when it’s executed well, it looks incredible.

How do you handle challenges both in life and on the football field?

On the field I try to have a next play mentality. Nothing in a game of football, or in life, is going to go 100% your way. You have to have the ability to roll with the punches and come back unaffected. That’s a mentality from the field that’s carried over into life.

What would a team get in a player like you?

Someone who’s ultra-competitive and also wants to come in and help in any way possible. I’ve got some position versatility and am more than willing to learn more spots. Someone who I’d like to think is a great teammate as well.

What stands out about your film the most?

I think the ability to play multiple spots is something that stands out. There are times where it’s right tackle one play over to left and then immediately back to right. I think versatility and then communication and the ability to consistently be in the right spot.

Who is the most underrated player you’ve played with and why?

David Bell is one off the top of my head as someone who deserves more recognition. I’m still learning the locker room at Louisville but Jack Plummer is someone who I know really well and he’s a guy who doesn’t get near the credit he deserves. Incredible leader, someone who guys rally around and he’s an incredibly talented playmaker. At Purdue, Gus Hartwig is someone who should be on every national award watchlist. One of the smartest, toughest guys I’ve ever been around. Deserves a ton more credit than he gets.
