Pittman’s Pocket: Eight HBCU Junior Prospects to keep an eye on in the 2025 NFL Draft

I know we still haven’t had the 2023 NFL Draft, but we wanted to showcase ten HBCU prospects who we feel will have a massive junior season for their respected teams. Check out Brian Pittman’s Pocket session and see if you recognize any of the future HBCU standouts!

HBCU’s Juniors you should get to know this upcoming season

  1. James Ash – FAMU DE- Defensive Line 6’4″ 280 lbs (#99) – The Tampa, Florida native was at Wake Forest before transferring to the Rattlers. A former team captain in high school with great leadership skills.
  2. Gentle Hunt – FAMU DT- Defensive Lineman 5’11” 290 lbs (92) – There is nothing Gentle about this big boy. The stout run stuffer finished the season with 30 tackles and 4.5 tackles for loss.
  3. Johnny Chaney Jr. – FAMU JR-Linebacker 6’2″ 230 lbs (28) – Chaney Jr. is a dog in the middle of the field for the Rattlers. The Orlando native racked up 55 tackles last year.
  4. Kendall Bohler – FAMU DB- Defensive Back 6’0″ 193 lbs (3) – The Ocoee, Florida native has a knack for getting around the ball. The former Mercer transfer had two big time interceptions in 2022, and teams better not throw at him because he will make them pay.
  5. Kriston Davis – Southern- Safety- 6’2 180 (17) – Davis is a 6’2 defensive back from Mobile, Alabama with great ball skills. He had two interceptions last year including a touchdown against Grambling State.
  6. Jordan Carter – Southern- DB 5’11 200 (7) – Jordan transferred from Bowie State and can be a threat as a return man as well as a coverage goon in the secondary. Carter finished with 36 tackles last year.
  7. Rodney Johnson Jr. – Southern-S 6’3 200 (26) – Johnson Jr. is a ball hawk in the secondary at the safety position. He had 6 PBU’s last year, and seems to always be around the ball.
  8. Andrew Body – Texas Southern QB- 6’2 200 (1) – Body is a good quarterback with great vision. He currently holds the single season record in total offense with 265.9 yards per game. He is a very solid player.

Brian Pittman

Worked as a Scout and volunteer for the East n West Shriners game in 2016-2017. Also attended the Hula bowl and Tropical Bowl games. 2022 Also was a independent Agent and Scout at the CGS bowl game in 2021. Worked All star games like the EPS All-Americans game in 2017.
