Steelers GM says the team’s policy is they do not negotiate contracts with two years left

Antonio Brown showed up to the Steelers facility but is hoping to land a new contract. He may be hoping into next season however. Steelers GM Kevin Colbert addressed WR Antonio Brown‘s contract situation on the team’s Radio Network by explaining their policy to not renegotiate player’s contracts until they’re in the final year.
“We don’t renegotiate contracts with more than one year remaining with the exception of quarterbacks. Antonio’s under contract,” Colbert said, per Jeremy Fowler. “He’s a great player. You can’t say enough good things about him. But he’s a professional. He respects the process, as do we. We’ll see where things end up.”
It sounds like Brown will have to wait a year. If he has another year, the Steelers may wish they had paid him, because he is going to break the bank.
