Former Pitt Quarterback Phil Jurkovec Arrested After Allegedly Stealing Box Truck

Former University of Pittsburgh quarterback Phil Jurkovec was arrested Friday in connection with the alleged theft of a box truck from Allegheny Health Network’s Wexford Hospital.

Jurkovec, 26, was charged with one count of theft by unlawful taking and one count of receiving stolen property. Both charges are felonies.

According to court documents, police were called to the hospital’s valet garage along Route 19 after a box truck was reported stolen.

Investigators said the victim, an employee of Rental Time, was loading tables and chairs from an event into the truck when the vehicle was allegedly taken.

Police were able to track the box truck using its GPS system. Cranberry Township police officers eventually located the vehicle and conducted a traffic stop.

According to police, officers identified Jurkovec as the driver and took him into custody.

The former Pitt quarterback now faces the felony charges as the investigation continues.

Jurkovec began his college career at Notre Dame before transferring to Boston College and eventually Pitt. He returned home to play for the Panthers and was one of the more recognizable names on the program during his time in Pittsburgh.

The charges are allegations, and Jurkovec is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
