Seahawks former first rounder needed hip surgery on Monday
The Seattle Seahawks were hoping for big things from Bruce Irvin in 2014, but today the former first round reach (considered by many) had another set back. The West Virginia pass rush specialist needed hip surgery.
Former first-round draft pick and third-year Seattle Seahawks linebacker Bruce Irvin underwent hip surgery on Monday.
While the Seahawks confirmed Irvin’s surgery, there was no word on which hip was giving him trouble. No other details were immediately available and there was no official timetable for his return, but Irvin said on Twitter that he hopes to be back later this summer.
“Didn’t want this to get out but I’m fine,”Irvin tweeted. “Will (be) back by training camp! For all (you) people saying this (is) a make-or-break year for me! … I’m gon’ get mine! Believe that!”
Irvin has been pretty solid since joining the Hawks, but will need to stay healthy to help the defense out. Hopefully the procedure went well and we will see him out on the field before the season. My question is why do players wait until mini camp to get surgery? Is it to sit out of camp? Or is it because the doctor’s make them when they do their physicals? I would like to know that answer…..
