Pittsburgh Steelers had the best draft of ALL-Time in 1974

When people grade a teams Draft it is very important to see what the player has done in his career.  Since there are so many NFL Draft experts now-a-days, the NFL has been known for grading draft picks.  If you look back at some of the single best draft picks in their time, Tom Brady is one that would ring a bell.  The 6th rounder from Michigan has been quite the player and is now known as one of the best to ever play the game.  It is not that often a team hits 3 or 4 starters out of a draft. That is why it is important to hit on your picks.  Well one draft that will go down as the best draft ever has to be the 1974 Pittsburgh Steelers draft.

In the 1974 NFL Draft, the Pittsburgh Steelers selected four players that would go on to become Hall of Famers: Lynn Swann, Jack Lambert, John Stallworth and Mike Webster.

Lynn Swann was taken with the 21st pick, Lambert the 46th, Stallworth the 82nd and Mike Webster went 125.  That is four players in the top 125 picks that went on to become Hall of Famers.  Not counting that the 1974 NFL Draft had 17 rounds, it didn’t matter.  Did you know only the Steelers had 5 picks in the top 125 picks in that draft, and the only player not to make the Hall of Fame was former UCLA cornerback Jimmy Allen?

This is what NFL teams hope for, because those four players paved a clear path to multiple championships.
