Should the Patriots draft a tight end and try to trade Rob Gronkowski?
The New England Patriots have proved over and over again, they don’t need certain players to win. Back in the day the team let both Lawyer Milloy and Drew Bledsoe leave and it worked out perfectly fine. The team let Wes Welker walk and they did fine. Shoot the team lost both Rob Gronkowski and Aaron Hernandez last year and they did fine. So here is my question, should the Patriots look to draft a tight end in the 2014 NFL Draft, and try to get something for Rob Gronkowski who remains injured all the time? The guy is still a playmaker, but the team cannot utilize him if he is injured. Today when he was asked if he would be ready to go for the season opener and he was not sure.
“Oh man. That’s too far away, man. I’m just improving every day right now,” Gronkowski said on WAAF.
Gronkowski tore his ACL on December 8, ending a season that started late after the tight end recovered from forearm and back surgeries and starting the clock on several more months of uncertainty about his availability. Based on his response to a question he obviously is not ready to play. So here is my question, would you look to trade him and try to receive something for him, before he just walks eventually in free agency?
