Player Summary:
RS SR and 2-yr full-time starter at LT in the zone blocking scheme of KYLO. Transferred from GAMC prior to the 2020 season. He has marginal height, subpar weight and rare speed with long arms and a lean, muscular upper body and powerful legs. He is a quality athlete, possessing a combination of very good COD, acceleration, lateral quickness and agility, average balance and explosiveness with good play speed. While run blocking, he quickly gets his hat across the face of the 3T/5T, latches on and generates movement at the POA with his solid foot drive against 3/5T with subpar size, play strength and AA. He uses his good play speed to reach to the 2nd level and uses his length and size to overpower ILB with ordinary size and marginal play strength. In pass pro, he plays with a good, wide base and initiates contact first with his quality length before anchoring against EDGE with adequate burst, play strength and bend. Exhibits good reactive athleticism as he effectively reads the defense and can pick up twists from 2i/3T on his side with solid lateral quickness and agility twisting towards the C gap. He does an above-average job of recovering if beaten initially in pass pro preventing a sack. Ordinary UOH in his punch and placement combined with average play strength prevents him from winning battles with his hands inside and maintaining his block against DL and LB with good UOH and physical toughness while run blocking. Adequate depth when setting up at a 45-degree angle in pass pro allows EDGE with good explosiveness to win his outside shoulder. Subpar flexibility prevents him from bending at the knee in pass pro allowing EDGE with quality play speed, hip and ankle flexion to get under his pads and defeat his block. Average finish ability due to lack of quality play strength prevents him from finishing the block to the ground consistently. Tries to compensate for his subpar flexibility by lunging which causes him to play off-balanced.
Scheme Fit:
Projects as an IOL at the next level due to his much better measurables for the position and his struggle to handle the speed rush consistently as an OT.
Power Statement:
Athletic, intelligent player who effectively uses his quality AA while run blocking. Lack of quality flexibility and UOH prevents him from being more productive in pass pro.
