Former Buffalo State football player Alex Jennings who recently turned actor struck and killed in hit-and-run accident

Alex Jennings was on the right path, the former Buffalo State defensive back actually left Buffalo State to pursue an acting career. He was on the set of Netflix’s “Outer Banks” and left Buffalo for Charleston, South Carolina.

Well, when leaving the July 4th festivities in South Carolina, Alex was struck and killed by a hit-and-run driver as he walked along a road. He died shortly after from injuries sustained in the crash.

Alex was a Grand Island resident and 2017 graduate of Grand Island High School, where he was an accomplished athlete in football, lacrosse, and track and field. He was a tireless sprinter and diver with the Piranha’s Swim Club, and finished second in the 2016 NYS Section 6 Pentathlon Finals.

“The Charleston County Coroner Bobbi Jo O’Neal is releasing the name of Alexander Jennings, a 22-year-old white male from Grand Island, New York,” read a statement from the Charleston County Coroner obtained by In Touch. “Mr. Jennings died on July 5, 2022, at 3:12 a.m. at the Medical University of South Carolina following an automobile versus pedestrian collision, which occurred on July 5, 2022, at approximately 2:34 a.m. at the corner of Folly Road and Sol Legare Road. Mr. Jennings was the pedestrian. The Charleston County Sheriff’s Office is the investigating police agency.”

Please keep the 22-year-old’s family in your prayers. This is such a tragic incident, and police are still looking for information.

The hit-and-run incident happened around 2:30 a.m., but that no charges had been filed and they were still looking for information regarding the first vehicle that struck him.
