Matt Cassel will start again for the teams second preseason game
After a lack luster performance by Teddy Bridgewater the Minnesota Vikings decided to start Matt Cassel once again in their second preseason game. Cassel had a pretty decent games last week, while Bridgewater struggled a little bit. That is expected for a new quarterback because the pace of a game is way different than the pace of a practice.
Cassel led the Vikings to a touchdown drive on his only series in the preseason opener. First-round rookie Teddy Bridgewater went 6-of-13 for 49 yards, fumbled and was sacked twice on 15 dropbacks.
Cassel entered that game as No. 1 on the depth chart, with Bridgewater No. 2. Minnesota coach Mike Zimmer said on Sunday he’ll determine after the game against the Cardinals whether Bridgewater might get a start in either of the final two preseason games.
“We’ll see after this week,” Zimmer said. “I don’t know.”
Cassel completed 5 of 6 passes for 62 yards against the Raiders.
