We want you to enjoy our interviews, because when these young men are in the league, we will not be surprised, and neither should you.

What is your name?

Justin Arias

Where do you play college football?

Idaho State University

How many teams were recruiting you out of high school?

One, UC Davis

How did you choose your school?

Went to a community college first for 2 years, decided to come to Idaho State because of new coaching staff and spread offense

Where are you from?

Agoura Hills, CA

Who is your role model, and why?

Joel Arias (oldest brother), looked up to him throughout my youth because he played QB through high school.  Tom Brady, because he is very smart and one of the best QBs in the game. Pocket passes and very knowledgeable

Have any scouts met with you yet, and if so what are they saying?

No they have not

Did you play any other sports growing up?

Played baseball since I was 6 and stopped playing after high school.  Played basketball up until high school

Did you play any other positions in football?

TE my first year when I was 8. Then QB for the next 15 years.

At your position, what separates you from others?

Knowledge of the game, play with my mind. Stay even keel throughout the game. Also, my accuracy with the football, which limits turnovers.

When you are breaking down film, what do you look for?

Look at the defensive line first, if there are any very good pass rushers. Look for how well the backers cover (depth) on pass plays and how aggressive they play on the run to set up play action.  Look at safety depth at the snap and safety depth for each coverage. Also, look for man technique by safeties. Usually a mismatch on our slots. Look at corner depth for each coverage and how aggressive they play. Whether or not they like to peak inside to jump an out or play discipline coverage.

If you could compare your play to one player in the NFL who would it be and why?

I would compare it to Tom Brady because he is a pocket passer. Moves as little as possible, just enough to buy some extra time. He plays with his mind. His knowledge for the game is outstanding and he is a competitor. He hates losing and is a great team player.

What was the biggest obstacle in your life you had to overcome, and how did you overcome it?

Biggest obstacle I have overcome was actually this season. I was writing my masters thesis, working 20 hours a week for the dean of nursing, and trying to be successful in football. All of these combined created a very stressful situation this semester, which tested my patience and perseverance. However, I never quit and was successful in all three.

Do you have any pre-game rituals?

Friday night before any game on Saturday, I will go watch a movie at a theatre late at night or on my laptop.  Allows me to clear my mind the night before and get a good night of sleep.

What is your biggest strength?

My biggest strength is the knowledge I have for the game and ability to remain calm and collected throughout. In addition, my accuracy is one of my greatest strengths.

What is your biggest weakness?

My biggest weakness is I do like to go for the big play often. Sometimes get caught trying to make the big plays instead of the routine ones.

If I were a GM and gave you a second to sell yourself, what would you say?

I would I say I have an undeniable work ethic that does not quit. I work to be successful and play with my mind. I am very accurate with my throws and strive to minimize turnovers on my part. I remain calm and collected throughout the game and will never quit no matter the situation in any game.

Who was your favorite player and NFL team growing up?

New England Patriots and Tom Brady. I believe Belichick is a great coach who takes typical “eye” guys or guys all about themselves and gets them to buy into the team aspect.

If you could have dinner with three people dead or alive, who would you choose?

Tom Brady, Jessica Alba, and Denzel Washington
