What made you decide you wanted to be a football player?
I was young and I started off enjoying the NFL level and watching football and Michael Vick was a left handed quarterback and I am left handed as well. So when I was very young, I was about four years old and my mom got me a Michael Vick costume and I was running around with my brothers at the boy scouts in Oxnard, California and just juking the other boy scouts and at that moment I knew I was gonna be a football player. My mom even told me and i don’t remember this, but I told her that when I grow up, I’m going to be a football player and from that moment on my love for the game and ability and skill has just been from the jump about the game and loving the game and the game is a part of me.
What are your favorite moments from your football life?
In high school my senior year knocked off Folsom which was the number one team in the whole city and they hadn’t lost to anybody in the playoffs in 10 plus years in our whole section and we were the first team to do that. My other favorite football memory is being able to get to the fbs level and playing against Boise State and scoring my first FBS touchdown against Boise State in a dramatic fashion.
What are you looking to achieve as a football player going forward?
I’m looking to make it to the next level and be the greatest running back of all time, that should be every player’s goal. If you are trying to play at the highest level, you should be trying to pull off the greatest feat. I want to be the greatest running back of all time and you know that just sets the goal at the top of the mountain and I just got to keep climbing to get there and it’s going to take time but I got to make sure that I’m doing the things that I need to do to get myself to my goals.
If you could hang out with any football player past or present for a day, who and why?
It would have to be Barry Sanders. I will pick his brain on how he created space as a running back and being similar to my size maybe a little smaller but just seeing how he’s the best running back of all time I would love to pick his brain on that and learn from him.
Which one of your family members inspires you the most and why?
I will say myself it sounds a little narcissistic, but I would say myself just because on my journey, I have overcome so many obstacles and made things happen that I didn’t think it would be able to happen before just based on my work ethic and my belief in myself and just my perseverance.
What is your favorite offensive scheme and why?
I would say my favorite offensive scheme is the pro style offense just because a majority of NFL teams run a pro style offense as well as just seeing the benefits of being a running back in a pro style offense you get to lineup seven yards from the quarterback and the quarterback’s under center and I kind of ran a little bit of this offense at Butte and it works wonders for the running back and you get to hit the hole straight ahead and get a good runnings start and I think the pro style offense is best for my style and for running backs in general so that’s my favorite one.
What should we know about Caleb Ramseur the person?
That I’m a well rounded person, I’m respectful, loving and I’m kind and nice to people that i don’t even know. So I think that’s the biggest quality especially with being successful playing college football and being a division one athlete a lot of people think that they are higher than others because they play football and get an NIL and I am not like that. I’m a person that is respectful to all people including people who don’t have what I have and people who have more than I have and I think that’s my biggest quality as a person and that speaks volumes to me as a person.
What stands out about your film the most?
What stands out the most about my film is that I am a very versatile running back. Most backs can run the ball well but most of them cannot catch, most of them cannot run routes and most of them cannot block but I’m a running back that can do all three things at a very high level and I’m looking to showcase these things every time I touch the field. I think that’s the best thing about myself as a player and also being able to long snap and play special teams is very valuable as a running back.
How do you handle challenges both in life and on the football field?
Taking it by the horns and not sugar coating things and trying to make myself think that things are better than they are and rather be more focused on how you can solve this issue and how can I overcome it? And that’s football as well if you have a negative play on offense, you don’t sit there and be like it wasn’t our fault. Take ownership if you messed up, see how you messed up and see how you can fix it. I think that the best thing for athletes learning in life is to take it by the horns, acknowledge the mess up and be able to find a solution to fix it and it’ll make you a better person in life.
What would a team get in a player like you?
A team would get a well rounded player, very versatile as a running back. Teams would get everything out of me not just great running ability, but hey will get great pass catching ability and blocking ability which teams in the NFL are definitely are looking for because the game is evolving every day as well as the ability to to play special teams, but I think that’s the best thing that teams will be looking for in a guy like me which will be a lower round prospect, but as well as being able to help the team out in any way they need possible.
What do you love the most about the game of football?
Any given day anybody can lose and anybody can win. There’s no handouts in football and you have to earn it. Yes, there’s business in the game but any given day someone who is starting can lose their job the next day and I think that’s what makes the game of football so special.
Who is the most underrated player you’ve played with and why?
Junior college defensive linemen teammate and high school as well, Lathun Snipes, he’s an undersized defensive tackle but he is one of the strongest people I know and he plays so well inside and makes big time plays at the collegiate level in junior college and Tennessee State as well so I will say he’s the most underrated player I’ve played with.
