UGA Bulldogs Football Player Jahzare Jackson Faces Felony Drug Charge After Arrest in Athens
University of Georgia offensive lineman Jahzare Jackson is facing a felony drug charge following his arrest in Athens on July 16, according to jail records.
The sophomore was booked on multiple charges, including felony possession of marijuana over one ounce. He also faces misdemeanor charges for possession of less than one ounce of marijuana, possession and use of drug-related objects, and physically holding or supporting a wireless device while driving. An arrest warrant indicates Jackson was allegedly holding a cellphone while operating a vehicle.
He was released the following morning after posting bonds totaling $5,030.
Jackson, who appeared in all 14 games for the Bulldogs last season, has not yet received any public disciplinary action from the university. The arrest was first reported by The Athens Banner-Herald.
UGA has not issued a statement regarding Jackson’s status with the team or any possible consequences stemming from the incident.
